Re-watching Sense8, and honestly, while I like so much of this show, Wolfgang is really only interesting to me when he's interacting with other members of the cluster. Well members who aren't Kala. Cuz holy shit am I not invested in that love triangle. Though, I do love how it's resolved even if it doesn't make a ton of sense.

I just finished the Christmas special, and boy howdy did it make me emotional to realize that Sun and Wolfgang take over in each other's fights. By that time we've seen Sun decimate so many people. God, she just wades through her opponents. And we've seen Wolfgang hold his own in his brawls. But that scene where the three guys hired by her brother try to take her out in the visitor's room, it's not Sun who beats them down. It's Wolfgang. When Wolfgang is fighting the rival gang boys, it's Sun who takes over. There also earlier in the special, when Wolfgang is feeling nervous and he ends up with Sun. They're two of the most taciturn characters, and the clearest way for them to express affection is to beat the shit out of anyone who threatens the people they love. These two fight scenes just visually highlight how much they care about each other, and holy shit do I love it.

Also any time Wolfgang is with Lito, fucking gold.

I just saw Hobbs & Shaw and honestly, honestly, even with the "science" I am even more convinced now that pretty much every single person in these movies is a wizard. Yeah, I could just accept that they are over the top action films (and boy howdy are they) BUT it's more fun to point at those moments where suspension of disbelief is strained super hard and say, "Nah it's cool. They're all wizards or witches of some kind, and that's how they're able to survive a Captain America: Winter Soldier style jump off a skyscraper."

Am I in the near future going to do a complete franchise re-watch in order to create a somewhat cohesive meta for how exactly the entirety of the Fast and Furious cinematic universe is about the coming together of a powerful coven who then go on to fight evil and/or do crimes? You bet your sweet bippy I am.

No spoilers but I am digging the hell out of the second season of American Gods. I loved the first season and I am so freaking jazzed to see where this season goes.

Welp, only two more things on my to do list and I'll be all ready for tomorrow. Then tomorrow...ok there's a to do list for tomorrow but really it's just to make sure I eat breakfast and don't forget anything.

I am very much looking forward to being home where the temperature actually makes sense for this time of year. Or at least makes sense to me. I realize that growing up in Northern Wisconsin has skewed my perception of what winter is/should be like. Being in North Georgia is truly a mind fuck when it comes to weather.

Speaking of weather, fingers crossed that it stays mild for the two day drive back to the home lands.

In other news, I started watching Criminal Minds again. I was 100% in love with this show for a good long while. Then the sexualization of the murder victims got really old so I bailed. I'm not trying to get caught up on the things I missed because that would be exhausting. Instead I decided to just jump into season 12 because of cast changes. It's....the show? It does what it does and I find certain things interesting and other stuff I just tune out or fast forward through. Thank god for fast forwarding.

1. Mycroft in Elementary is at best annoying, and at worst makes me fast forward because god I just cannot. I cannot with him and Joan.

2. Sherlock saying he doesn't want ice cream, and then barely 10 seconds later asking Watson what kind of ice cream will always be utterly delightful to me.

I have finished my last final, ever(?) Potentially ever. In theory this was my last semester of course work. I feel pretty confident about the two finals I had to take, and about my work in both those classes. But I will be vaguely paranoid until I see the final grades.

At least I know last Friday was the last time I'll have to stay awake until 4 in the morning in order to get something done. From now on if I stay awake until 4 it's because I want to!

Now if I can just make myself revise this Area of Specialization description...*sigh* ugh.

Hi there!

In an attempt to actually use this site more, I'm going to introduce myself. Sort of.

I'm currently working on a PhD in Theater and Performance Studies. In my life (rounding out the Jesus year at the moment) I've had three goals.* 1. Get a PhD, 2. Get a full size bed, 3. Get a dog. Two of those goals are getting closer to being achieved, and sadly it's not the dog. One of my fave movies since the age of 3 is Predator, which I referred to as Crabface.

My fannish interests include but are not limited to:

Rivers of London
Master and Commander
Jane Austen
Lord of the Rings (book and movies)
- Specifically the glorious love between Legolas and Gimli
The Good Place
Brooklyn 99
Elementary
Letterkenny
Good Mythical Morning
Rooster Teeth, Achievement Hunter, and Funhaus
Good Omens
Neil Gaiman
Terry Pratchett
PACIFIC RIM!!!!!
And Holy Shit so much more!

It seems like that's enough to get started on at the moment. If anyone wants to say Hi! they are more than welcome!

*I mean I also wanted to be Maverick from Top Gun and a mermaid, but at least these are achievable. Tho I haven't given up all hope on being a mermaid....Or Maverick if we're being totally honest.

I recently reread the series in prep for Lies Sleeping, and am now reading them all again. Just cuz. I have a lot of thoughts about the series, and at some point I hope to be able to articulate them. There is one that I really keep coming back to: Peter Grant is his mother's son.

One of the main things I connect with Mamusu "Rose" Grant is the fact that she is a believer in community. She may (ok in my head she totally is) be the person who fosters and helps maintain the wide group of people she considers family. Throughout the books one of Peter's main goals is to bring the Folly into the community that its supposed to police. I honestly 100% believe, pry it from my cold dead hands, that Peter's belief in community (how important community is, how important it is to be a part of the community) comes from his mother.

I am an admittedly not the best when it comes to engaging with fandom. Mostly because it tends to freak me out. I'm never sure what the rules are. Is there a specific way I'm supposed to introduce myself? Will others think I'm not a "real" fan? What is the best dish to bring to a potluck? Generally I default to a dessert, but sometimes people don't like dessert. I don't understand those people, but I understand that they exist. In all honestly, I don't know what I'm doing here but that's pretty much par for the course.
